しげの秀一の作品。「バリバリ伝説」「頭文字D」に続くメジャー作品が「MFゴースト（MFG）」（HP アニメ『MFゴースト』公式サイト）。片桐夏向（かたぎりかなた）は、イギリス人の母と日本人の父のハーフで、レースは冷静沈着、レース以外は心の優しいナイスガイ。母を亡くし父を求めてレースを通して父を探すために日本にやってきた。英国のレーシングスクールでトップレベル、かつ英国で出会ったイニシャルDの主人公だった藤原拓海を師と仰ぎ、街道レースのテクニックも習得した若き天才レーサー19歳。日本でのホームステイ先は、母の学生時代の親友である鎌倉の西園寺家。そこの娘さんが西園寺恋（さいおんじれん）17歳。MFGエンジェルのバイトをしている。
Shuichi Shigeno’s works include Baribari Densetsu and Initial D, and his next major series is MF Ghost (MFG) (official website: Anime “MF Ghost”). Kanata Katagiri is half British (mother) and half Japanese (father). On the racetrack he is calm and composed, while off the track he is a kind‑hearted, genuinely nice guy. After losing his mother, he comes to Japan to search for his father through racing. He graduated at the top level from a British racing school, and he reveres Takumi Fujiwara—whom he met in the UK and who was the protagonist of Initial D—as his mentor. Kanata is a 19‑year‑old racing prodigy who has also mastered street‑racing techniques. In Japan, he stays with the Saionji family in Kamakura; the mother of the household was his own mother’s close friend during their student days. Their daughter is Ren Saionji, 17 years old, who works part‑time as an MFG Angel.
作品としては、映像が写真のよう忠実にきれいに描かれている。更にレーシング時のアングルと構成も素晴らしく、レース時のストーリーもハラハラドキドキの迫力あるものになっていて見ごたえ十分。レースがオフの時、片桐夏向は父母の若い時のツーショットの写真の背景を頼りに撮られた鎌倉の地を西園寺恋と一緒に探索する。二人は少しずつ惹かれていくのだが、3rd Seasonの4話（Turn 28）で初めて、夏向は恋がMFGエンジェルだと知る。
As a work, the visuals are rendered with photographic fidelity and striking beauty. The racing angles and composition are also superb, and the race sequences deliver gripping, heart‑pounding intensity that makes the series highly engaging.When he’s off the track, Kanata Katagiri explores various locations in Kamakura with Ren Saionji, using the background of an old photo showing his parents together in their youth as a clue. As the two spend time together, they gradually grow closer.In Episode 4 of the 3rd Season (Turn 28), Kanata learns for the first time that Ren is actually an MFG Angel.
このブログでは、レースのストーリーではなく、鎌倉の神社仏閣巡りを中心に紹介していく。

鎌倉を初めて訪れたら必ず訪れる鶴岡八幡宮。初詣の時は、ロープ規制が行われるほどの大混雑。三が日の午前r中早いと混みが少ないという話を聞いたことがあります。また、誰かひとり初穂料（1万円以上）で祈祷してもらうとお仲間数名は混雑を回避できます。階段左手の大イチョウも折れた後の後継イチョウも大分大きくなってきました。日本を代表する立派な神社です。私は、鶴岡八幡宮の他に源家ゆかりのある鎌倉宮と荏柄天神社にも毎年参拝します。夏向も恋は何をお願いしたのでしょう？
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine is a must-visit for anyone coming to Kamakura for the first time. During the New Year’s visit (Hatsumode), it gets so crowded that rope barriers are set up to control the flow of people. I’ve heard that visiting early in the morning during the first three days of the year can help you avoid the worst of the crowds. Also, if one person in your group receives a prayer service (gokitō) by offering a pray fee (hatsuhoryō) of 10,000 yen or more, the rest of the group can bypass the congestion.The great ginkgo tree to the left of the stairs—and its successor, planted after the original fell—have both grown quite large. It’s truly one of Japan’s most distinguished shrines. In addition to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, I also visit Kamakura-gū and Egara Tenjinsha every year, both of which are connected to the Genji (Minamoto) clan. I wonder what Knata and Ren wished for this year?
鎌倉駅から藤沢駅までの単線電車です。魅力は、街中の家の傍をすり抜けて走る感覚と電車に色々なデザインがあり、どのデザインの電車に自分が乗るのかな？と乗るたびの楽しみの１つにしています。鎌倉高校前では、海外の方の乗り降りが多く、スラムダンクの聖地巡礼で有名です。乗り降りとしては、長谷駅と湘南江の島が多いです。
This is a single-track train line running from Kamakura Station to Fujisawa Station. One of its charms is the sensation of gliding right past houses in the middle of town. Another fun aspect is the variety of train designs—you never know which one you’ll get to ride, and that’s part of the excitement each time. At Kamakurakōkō-mae Station, many international visitors get on and off, as it’s a famous pilgrimage spot for fans of Slam Dunk. The most frequently used stations are Hase and Shōnan-Enoshima.
長谷駅を降りて行く神社仏閣として、長谷寺と高徳院はセットです。ここも観光客が非常に多いです。大仏様の中に入ることが出来るときがあります（今はどうでしょう？）。夏向も恋も大仏様を持ち上げる写真を撮って楽しそうでした。
When you get off at Hase Station, Hasedera Temple and Kōtoku-in are a classic pair to visit. These spots are also very popular with tourists. There are times when you can go inside the Great Buddha (I wonder if that’s possible right now?). Kanata and Ren seemed to be having fun taking photos pretending to lift the Great Buddha!
観光客が外せない神社仏閣です。この提灯「長谷寺」が印象的です。時々、この提灯のデザインが変わります。金色の時もありました。境内に入ると池があり、池向こうから本殿に向かって階段を登ります。本殿には、金色に輝いた9.18ｍの木彫像十一面観世音菩薩像があり見上げる立派なものです。外からは、由比ガ浜が一望でき、非常に解放感があります。夏向も恋もここから由比ガ浜を眺めています。ここから更に階段で登ると更に見晴らしの良い地点まで行けます。梅雨時期には紫陽花が咲き誇っています。
This is a must-visit temple for tourists. The large lantern bearing the name “Hasedera” is especially striking, and its design occasionally changes—there was even a golden version at one point. As you enter the temple grounds, you’ll find a pond, and from across the pond, you climb the stairs toward the main hall. Inside the main hall stands a magnificent 9.18-meter-tall wooden statue of the Eleven-Headed Kannon Bodhisattva, gleaming in gold and truly awe-inspiring when you look up at it. From outside, you can enjoy a sweeping view of Yuigahama Beach, which gives a wonderful sense of openness. Kanata and Ren also gazed out over Yuigahama from here. If you climb further up the stairs, you’ll reach an even better vantage point. During the rainy season, the hydrangeas bloom in full splendor.
鎌倉駅を出て左にこの小町通りがあります。私が初めて通った小町通りの雰囲気から最近は鎌倉らしさもなくなって来てちょっと残念ですが、観光客の多さは相変わらずです。多分、夏向のアルバイト（レーシング以外にもウェイターやっている）先もこの小町通り付近にある設定のではないかと思われます。私は、若宮通り側を歩くことが多いです。様々なお店があるので、時々お土産を買っています。
To the left as you exit Kamakura Station is Komachi Street. Compared to the atmosphere I experienced when I first walked through it, it feels like it’s lost some of its “Kamakura-ness” lately, which is a bit disappointing—but the number of tourists remains as high as ever. I imagine Natsumukoikoi’s part-time job (aside from racing, they also work as a waiter) is probably set somewhere near Komachi Street. As for me, I often walk along Wakamiya Ōji instead. There are all sorts of shops there, and I occasionally pick up souvenirs.
JR横須賀線の北鎌倉駅の裏にあたる。紅葉がきれいな場所で秋には階段下で観光客が写真撮る順番待ちをしています。北鎌倉駅には、円覚寺、紫陽花寺の明月院、浄智寺、東慶寺など有名な神社仏閣があり、北鎌倉から浄智寺横を通って、源氏山公園に抜けて、高徳院（鎌倉の大仏）までの山のお散歩コースを年に5回くらい早歩きすることもありました。
This area lies behind JR Yokosuka Line’s Kita-Kamakura Station. It’s a beautiful spot for autumn foliage, and during the season, tourists often line up at the bottom of the stairs to take photos. Around Kita-Kamakura Station, you’ll find many famous temples such as Engaku-ji, Meigetsu-in (known for its hydrangeas), Jōchi-ji, and Tōkei-ji. I used to brisk-walk about five times a year along a mountain trail that starts from Kita-Kamakura, passes by Jōchi-ji, continues through Genjiyama Park, and leads all the way to Kōtoku-in (home of the Great Buddha of Kamakura).
この円覚寺は、恋は夏向とではなくお友達と来た。この2枚目の社寺は円覚寺の奥の奥にある。途中の植物がなかなか個人的には好きです。2回来ました。
江の島の景色は、MFゴーストでは結構出てくる。由比ガ浜や江の島海岸を2人で歩くシーンもある。子犬を連れたお年配の方が二人に写真を撮ってあげましょうか？と尋ね、夏向が遠慮して断ったところ、恋がどついて写真撮影お願いするシーンもあります。
Scenery from Enoshima appears quite frequently in MF Ghost. There’s even a scene where the two of them walk along Yuigahama and the Enoshima coastline together. At one point, an elderly person walking a puppy offers to take their photo. Kanata politely declines, but Ren gives him a playful nudge and asks for the photo to be taken anyway.
夏向も恋は、友人から勧められたしらす丼を食べに訪れました。夏向は、日本の食事、お菓子が大好きです。江の島のタコせんべいは有名ですね。
Kanata and Ren visited to try shirasu-don (whitebait rice bowl) on a friend’s recommendation. Kanata loves Japanese food and sweets. The octopus rice crackers from Enoshima are quite famous, aren’t they?
夏向と恋の二人は、残念ながら紫陽花が咲いていない時期に極楽寺を訪れました。私は紫陽花が咲いている時期を狙って来たので紫陽花も撮れましたよ。
Unfortunately, Kanata and Ren visited Gokuraku-ji when the hydrangeas weren’t in bloom. I, on the other hand, timed my visit for hydrangea season, so I was able to capture some lovely photos of them.
極楽寺が極楽寺駅の裏手にあるため、極楽寺駅から江ノ電の上に架る橋を渡ります。この橋のこのアングルは、江ノ電がトンネルから出てくる貴重なスポットとして鉄っちゃんにも人気のある場所。こういうポイントをアニメに乗せてくるあたり色々調べているな～と感心する。
Since Gokuraku-ji Temple is located behind Gokurakuji Station, you cross a bridge that goes over the Enoden tracks from the station. This particular angle from the bridge is a rare spot where you can see the Enoden train emerging from a tunnel—it’s a favorite among train enthusiasts. I’m impressed that the anime included this kind of location; it shows they really did their research.
この本覚寺、アニメで出てくる場面ではちょっとわかりにくかった。もしかしたら間違っているかも。この本覚寺は、鎌倉駅が非常に近いところにあります。若宮大路通りを、鶴岡八幡宮とは逆方向（右手）に曲がって、もう一度左に曲がって徒歩10分くらいだったと思います。
This Hongaku-ji Temple was a bit hard to recognize in the anime scene—it might even be a mistake. The real Hongaku-ji is located very close to Kamakura Station. If I remember correctly, you turn right off Wakamiya Ōji, in the opposite direction of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, then turn left again, and it’s about a 10-minute walk.
けんちん汁発祥の地と言われている「建長寺」。鎌倉駅と北鎌倉駅のほぼ中間地点にあり境内は広く圧倒されます。建長寺を抜けて更に奥に進むと半僧坊がありますが、アニメでも出てきたように社寺があるまで非常に長い階段があります。足腰の悪い方は登れないです。天狗のお寺なので、階段の横に天狗の置物がいくつもあります。個人的にこのお寺好きです。
Kenchō-ji, said to be the birthplace of kenchin-jiru (a hearty vegetable soup), is located roughly halfway between Kamakura Station and Kita-Kamakura Station. The temple grounds are vast and truly awe-inspiring. If you go through Kenchō-ji and continue further in, you’ll reach Hansōbō. As shown in the anime, there’s a very long staircase leading up to the shrine area. It’s not suitable for those with weak legs or knees.
2026年1月からの3rd Seasonの4話（Turn 28）までに出てきた神社仏閣は以上だと思います。。。。夏向、恋も週1回のペースで鎌倉探索（写真の場所）、デートをするそうなので、今後、神社仏閣が出てきたら更新してまいります。
I believe the shrines and temples that have appeared up to Episode 4 (Turn 28) of the 3rd Season starting January 2026 are all listed above. It seems that Kanata and Ren go on Kamakura outings (to the photo locations) and dates about once a week, so I’ll continue updating this list whenever new shrines or temples appear.
